Mooey's Birthday

Tuesday was Mooey's birthday. She wanted a small gathering to celebrate because her big bash is on Saturday. The original plan was to meet at the Happy Mexican downtown for handmade margaritas, nachos and Tecate. Oliver, Mooey's cat, had other ideas. He decided to be missing for 2 days and have everyone in a near panic. Mooey left work a few minutes early because she couldn't stand not knowing if Oliver had turned up. Luckily, after handing out a few flyers, he was spotted. Unluckily, he was injured and Mooey had to take him to the Emergency Vet. So, I told Mooey we would go to the Bayou and wait for her and Hoops to show up.

Weenie and I arrived at the Bayou around 5:45 and secured our favorite table on the patio. It was a beautiful day and around 70. It wasn't long before Mooey showed and Hoops arrived a few minutes later. Mooey opened her presents and the drinking began.

After about an hour, we looked up and Pat and Kelly were walking up. They didn't know we were going to be there and pulled up chairs. Then Dyna and Fake Date walked up. Fake Date has been gone for about 6 weeks and her and Dyna needed to catch up, so they sat at a different table.

Around 9:00, we decided to move the party to One More. We yelled at Fake Date and Dyna to join us. The hemmed and hawed but decided to make the short drive.

Weenie got us a bucket and Mooey got her free bucket and we sat down on the picnic table. Fake Date and Dyna joined us at the table.

There was singing...

And dancing...

Dart throwing...

And laughing...

Fun was had by all. I can't wait for the real party on Saturday!

New York Labor Day

Mooey, Weenie and I set off for New York on Thursday after work. When we arrived at Mooey's parent's apartment, her father was watching the US Open. Agassi was playing Baghdatis. When we landed, Agassi had the game well in hand but once we arrived at the apartment, it was 2 sets all. It was around 11:30 and we were all bushed but we couldn't stop watching the match.

Weenie and I got in bed but I couldn't shut my eyes. Once Agassi won I could sleep. All was right in the world.

The next morning we got up early and caught the subway to Queens. We had our US Open tickets in hand. I was so excited.

An hour later, we sprinted to the gates with hundreds of others. We didn't have any bags so we went to a separate line that went directly into the tennis center. It was around 10:00 and the matches didn't start until 11:00. We decided to check out the practice courts to see if anyone famous was playing.

After walking around, Weenie spotted a huge crowd looking into the fences covered with mesh. We finally made our way up there and Serena Williams and her dad were hitting balls.

We headed up to our seats to watch Roger Federer play. Our seats were at the top but it's way smaller than it looks on TV. It's about the size of the Fedex Forum.

Here is Elena Dementieva. She's the #4 women's player.

We went over and watched a little of Martina before we had to leave. We were at the top and this is the best shot I could get.

We had had enough tennis and walked to the subway. It was an hour ride back and we were tired. As we were walking back to the apartment, it started raining. I was so glad we had bought morning tickets!

The next morning it was raining again so we walked 3 blocks to our favorite diner and had breakfast. Then a little shopping and back to the apartment to shower for the Broadway show Spamalot.

The show was hysterical and all of us had grins on our faces the entire show. It was Weenie's first Broadway show and she loved it.

Sunday is always Chinatown. We went to Mandarin Court. It's the same place we always go. It's always good and we always want Dim Sum. It was Weenie's first Dim Sum and she really enjoyed it. After eating, we went shopping for all the fake designer stuff. Every few steps, someone would approach you and ask if you wanted a Coach bag. I finally resorted to screaming "I don't carry a purse" but no one really speaks English so they would only smile. Check out Mooey and Weenie at the fish market.

We bought some fake stuff and then headed to a street festival. It was super crowded and we didn't buy anything. We caught a cab to Central Park and 72nd. I'd never seen the park when there were leaves on the trees because I'm always there in the winter.

We walked down to Strawberry Fields. It's a memorial to John Lennon. It was very crowded and there was a guy playing Love Me Do on his guitar. Mooey looked at me and said "Paul mainly wrote that song" and we laughed.

If you turn around you can see The Dakota through the trees where John used to live.

The next day was our last and we decided to take the Circle Line tour. The giant boat goes around the entire island of Manhattan. It takes about 3 hours. We got there early and got in line so we could get the primo seats.

We ended up getting great seats on the top at the back of the boat. The weather was spectacular and the picture taking was intense! I took about 100 pictures. Here are a few.

We made it home safe and sound Monday night. Another great trip to NYC!

End O' the Season Pool Party

Saturday was the last pool party of the season. Boo hoo. Weenie and I (mostly Weenie) cooked drunk chicken. They were fab. Of course, we had shooters, beers and margaritas.

After sunbathing, we cleaned up a bit and headed to the Bayou. Shocked I know. Originally, it was just going to be DP (Weenie's bro), Weenie, Dyna and me. We wanted to watch the Ohio State/Texas game. It ended up being all of us plus Mooey, Hoops, Slick, Russell, Mel, and Karn. We gave Betsy (our server) a run for her money.

After Texas got their ass beat, we decided to head to the One More (12 More). DP went home and it was just Weenie and I for a while. The others went to a party.

We sat outside on the patio. Finally, Mel showed up and then Dyna. Russell and Slick were not far behind. We ordered buckets and put money in the jukebox. There was some dancing going on.

And picture taking...

Then Kate and Shirley showed up...

More picture taking...

Time to head home. It's almost 3:00!

She Wants Revenge

Last Thursday, Weenie and I went to the Bayou for preconcert drinks. Pat, Mooey, Pickle and Mel joined us. The show wasn't until 8:30 so we had some time to kill. Karn had a work function and was joining us later.

Many beers later and a couple of shooters, we followed Mel home to pick up Karn and head to The Complex. It was around 9:30. We were going to see She Wants Revenge.

The show was amazing as was the venue. We hadn't been there before but the sound system is second to none and it was very clean and not smoky.

Afterwards, we headed to One More (12 More). It was around midnight. We hung out and got a bucket of beer. I think we left around 2:30.

R.P. Billiards

Last Saturday night, we headed up to R.P. Billiards. We were meeting Mooey and Hoops for a night of darts. Weenie and I were still hungover from the night before when we were forced to go to Tunica for my dad's birthday. Plus we had gambler's remorse. Anyway, we ordered beers and a pizza.

Mooey and Hoops arrived just before our pizza and they also ordered beers and pizza. Our pizza was outstanding. Here is Mooey and Weenie across the booth.

We gobbled up the pizza in minutes. Weenie and I then ordered a Mind Eraser because I was still feeling bad. Notice our cheeks!

The shooter was very tasty and managed to almost erase my hangover. Unfortunately, it took 2 more Sweet Tart shooters to actually get rid of it completely!

Some of our friends showed up as we were finished our dinner. Here is a picture of them. Mooey, Pickle, Tree, Nick and R from left to right.

They had another party to attend so they only stayed for a few minutes. Shockingly, Nick showed us her ass before leaving.

After everyone left, we moved over to the dart board. We played 3 or 4 games and then some other friends showed up and we went next door to the Vault. We hung out with them until they left and then we went back to the other side and played pool. Kat showed up around 11:00 and hung out with us until we left around 2:15.
