San Angelo is completely flat. You can see for miles. I'm always amazed that I can see it raining 60 miles away.
Lake Ivie is where we normally fish. Due to all the rain, it had risen 10 feet in 3 days. The lake was very muddy but we were able to find some areas that weren't too bad. Weenie's dad had put out a trotline. Here are some pics of our catches.
Here are the 5 pounders off the trotline.
As Danny and I were bass fishing I snapped this picture of the sunset.
Up at camp, I took a few pictures of the deer that hang around. JoJo doesn't like the deer.
Check out these tarantulas! They were as big as my hand.
I didn't hang around to see if they knew each other. They gave me the creeps!
We headed back to town on Tuesday and went fishing on the Concho River. It runs right through San Angelo. We fished at the loading dock.
We caught so many tiny fish here. We would throw out our worms and our bobber would be under the water before we could get our line straight. Isn't this baby catfish the cutest thing you've ever seen? Here's the snake that watched us fish every day. I named him Mikey.
We left there and stopped off at Cheddar's for a couple of beers before going back to the house. We were all going to Lake Nasworthy to ride on the big boat.
We just rode around and then grilled brats on the boat. Oh, and drank a shit load of beer. Weenie likes to drive the boat.
The lake was packed with people. We had margaritas and Tecate! It was one hot mother out on the boat!

We stayed until dark and then went home. Of course, Weenie and I had to go shoot pool after that. And after that, we went to let her sing karaoke. We got home at 2:00.
We also went fishing at Twin Buttes. The last time I saw this area it didn't have any water in it. I can't believe how much water there is now! Weenie and I were with Danny and we were trying our hand at actual bass fishing with an artificial lure. It's kind of hard when you have 3 people on a boat trying to throw at the same area. I wasn't able to throw against the bank without messing up Weenie's line, so I gave up and went back to my worm fishing.
After a long day fishing, we decided Mexican food was in order so we went to DP's favorite place, Henry's.
Dancing peppers. OMG! Fucking awesome. Margaritas all around!
I can't remember what I ordered but it was good. The salsa was so hot here. You could see the jalapenos in big chunks.
We left the next morning around 9:00. Somehow I lucked out in the back seat again. No driving for me! We had a great time. Until next year!

Love the pictures, so scenic, well except for the spider part. I'm pretty scared of spiders, especially one that vicious looking !!!
i love all the pics you post.
tho, i think the big hairy spiders would keep my firmly planted here in the north.
I love the sunset. Nice shot.
Wow, this looks like a lot of fun. The photos were fun in itself! GAWD I need a vacation bad!!!
Hope you had a great time.
Wow, did that take me back - I lived in San Angelo twice in the 80s - stationed at Goodfellow. I remember a great make out session right where you all were fishing!
