On the way to eat, we popped into a shoe store where Mooey bought 2 pairs of shoes for $10!Right down from the shoe store was the restaurant we wanted to check out. Amy Ruth's boasts genuine Southern home cooking. We've always poopooed this place because we are from the South and we can get home cooking everyday of the week.
I ordered honey dipped fried chicken with mac and cheese and cabbage. Look under the chicken, that's honey. Words cannot express the goodness that is on that plate. The mac and cheese is hands down the best I've ever had. Ever. All of it was divine.
And, as if that wasn't enough, we ordered banana pudding. She brought it out in this giant bowl. OMG! We could only eat half of it.
We wanted to go by the Apollo while we were in Harlem so we walked the 10 blocks.
It was a little dissappointing to say the least. On TV, it looks really big and cool. In person, it's really tiny and not much to look at.

We shopped at the flea market some and then headed back to the apartment. We were going over to a friend's house at 5:00 for drinks. We had Paul draw us a map of bars from his house back to the apartment. We wanted to go bar hopping. The first place was called Dive Bar. How appropriate.
We ordered 2 Patron Silver's chilled. From the size of these, the bartender's arm got tired pouring these.
The party was officially started.
Then we ordered Don Julio Tequila. They were much smaller thank God.

I ordered the linguine with shrimp with pesto. It was terrible. It was like Chef Boyardee or something. Everyone's food was bad. The wine and company however were great.
We arrived on Beale Street around 8:30. It was crazy. The Liberty Bowl had just finished and there were football fans everywhere.
Mooey had tickets on the 10th row, but my mother had friends on the 3rd row. There were 2 empty seats next to her so we sat there. As you can see, we were super close.

Weenie had dropped us off so after the 3rd quarter we called her and she came and scooped us. We went to meet everyone at Mary's. There we were treated to a Karn dance to Fleetwood Mac. Please notice the video screen in the background.
It was dead at Mary's so we returned to the Monkey.
